We are excited to be recruiting for a Senior Internal Auditor to work alongside an long established and well regarded Internal Audit Team in delivering a range of audits, governance, risk and compliance reviews, advice and investigations to the Council and St Leger Homes. You will be working with staff across all Council departments and establishments on a variety of interesting audits and audit related reviews.
As the Senior Internal Auditor you will:
Undertake audits and other assurance activities as directed by the Head of Internal Audit.
Need to be able to work independently or as part of a team to deliver audits to deadlines and to a specified time budget using risk-based audit methodology.
Be able to identify control weaknesses and suggest practical process and control improvements.
Be able to work with, challenge and support other Council staff and managers in a positive and constructive way.
The successful Senior Internal Auditor will have:
Recent experience of working in an Internal Audit role.
A good understanding of the UK Public Sector Internal Audit Standards (UKPSIAS).
A relevant audit qualification (AAT, IIA, CIPFA or equivalent) or be working towards audit based or similar equivalent qualifications.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong understanding of internal audit methodology including risk based auditing.
You will be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
