Your new role
Hitachi Rail Limited are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Change and Configuration Engineer to join our team in Doncaster. You will be working as a part of our service and maintenance engineering department, reporting to the Service & Maintenance Standards & Training Manager.
 
In this exciting new role, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Change & Configuration team to meet business requirements. You will also be responsible for owning the change & configuration management procedures for Service & Maintenance Engineering.
 
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:
 
  • Managing the day-to-day activities of the Change & Configuration team to meet business requirements.
  • Chairing the Engineering Change Board (ECB) and Implementation Approval Board (IAB).
  • Owning the change & configuration management procedures for Service & Maintenance Engineering.
  • Being the primary point of contact for Service & Maintenance on Engineering Change.
  • Overseeing the unit and asset configuration throughout the life of Hitachi rolling stock.
  • Defining the unit traceable component structure (asset tree), identifying components and those assemblies, and sub-assemblies to be tracked by serial number for all Hitachi fleets.
  • Identifying all necessary information to be recorded against components within the asset tree.
  • Assisting in defining SAP and other support software requirements for change and configuration knowledge management where necessary.
  • Ensuring component and sub component exchanges, overhauls and operational information are captured and recorded sufficiently.
  • Ensuring Engineering Change is recorded and controlled effectively.
  • Liaising with European and Japanese factories, as well as other sources to obtain all necessary information from the Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBoM) during build phase of the units.
  • Liaising with Hitachi and external personnel as required by the duties of the post.
  • Travel (within the UK) will be required for short periods of time to support all the UK fleets.

  • Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations.
  • Written and verbal communication skills to a very high standard.
  • Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times.
  • Position holder must be able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company.
  • A team worker, capable of working with a range of skill sets and cultures.
 
Desirable
  • Management of Change and Configuration.
  • Previous line management experience.
  • Experience of SAP as an engineering management system.
  • Advanced IT skills – typically Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Experience gained from an engineer environment.
Qualifications

 

  • A minimum of HND or higher in an engineering discipline.
